Routine follow up & care

Routine appointments with your Doctor are every 3-6 months, although initially you may need to be seen more frequently.

At every appointment regular blood tests are taken to look at the amount of virus in the blood. This helps to show whether the treatment is working or whether a change in medication is needed.

All clients are offered annual screening for sexually transmitted infections.

Treatment & adherence

If you test positive for HIV, we will discuss the options for treatment with you. It is recommended that people with HIV start treatment as soon as possible.

When HIV is managed well, taking medication correctly every day prevents HIV damaging your immune system, which enables most people with the virus to live a long and healthy life.
