Young Men and Sexual Health

Young Men and Sexual Health: Improving responsibility, attitudes and access to services    – Tuesday 26th November 2019 and Tuesday 28th April 2020

Course Aim:

This course focuses on attitudes to sexual health from a young man’s perspective, providing an opportunity for participants to develop an understanding of how masculinity and pornography affects young men’s development, behaviour and choices and learn practical approaches to working with young men focusing on sexual health issues.

Course Objectives:

By the end of the course participants will have:

  • clarified their thinking about the needs of young men particularly around sex, relationships and sexual health
  • an insight into the ways in which masculinity impacts on and influences the behaviour and life choices of boys and men
  • examined the impact of pornography on choices, expectations and behaviour
  • considered possible methods for working with young men and plan a next step in this area of work.
  • examined challenges and opportunities within your own workplace and identify ways of developing work with boys and young men within your own practice
  • enhanced confidence and skills to support their work with this client group

Applicable to:

Professionals working in Luton with vulnerable people of all ages including:

  • Mental health service users
  • LDD service users (Learning Disabilities/Difficulties)
  • Black Minority Ethnic communities
  • Vulnerable young people (under 25)
