Supporting Trans & Gender Identity – Tuesday 2nd July 2019

Course aim:

To improve knowledge, confidence and understanding of Transgender & Gender Identity issues; to support service users and to positively influence colleagues and organisational approaches to create a safe, accessible and inclusive environment

Course Objectives:

By the end of this training course participants will:

  • Be able to Identify the components relating to gender identity
  • Have an understanding of the terminology relating to gender
  • Explored personal values relating to gender
  • Be able to practically support an individual with the process of coming out and support with potential transphobia
  • Know how to develop your practice to ensure Trans inclusivity within your work with service users and colleagues
  • Explored transgender additional health/sexual health needs
  • Become familiar with transitioning and the different options available to trans individuals
  • Be proactive in creating a safe and inclusive working environment
  • Know where to signpost service users and colleagues for support

Applicable to:

Professionals working in Luton with vulnerable people of all ages including:

  • Mental health service users
  • LDD service users (Learning Disabilities/Difficulties)
  • Black Minority Ethnic communities
  • Vulnerable young people (under 25)
