Course aim:
To improve knowledge, confidence and understanding of Transgender & Gender Identity issues; to support service users and to positively influence colleagues and organisational approaches to create a safe, accessible and inclusive environment
Course Objectives:
By the end of this training course participants will:
- Be able to Identify the components relating to gender identity
- Have an understanding of the terminology relating to gender
- Explored personal values relating to gender
- Be able to practically support an individual with the process of coming out and support with potential transphobia
- Know how to develop your practice to ensure Trans inclusivity within your work with service users and colleagues
- Explored transgender additional health/sexual health needs
- Become familiar with transitioning and the different options available to trans individuals
- Be proactive in creating a safe and inclusive working environment
- Know where to signpost service users and colleagues for support
Applicable to:
Professionals working in Luton with vulnerable people of all ages including:
- Mental health service users
- LDD service users (Learning Disabilities/Difficulties)
- Black Minority Ethnic communities
- Vulnerable young people (under 25)
